FFord Insure has flexible policy options to allow you to tailor your cover. When calculating your premium we take a range of rating factors into account. These factors, and the degree to which they affect your premium, will depend upon the information you provide to us.
The following factors may have a significant impact on the calculation of your premium. This is not an exhaustive list:
- the year, make and model of the Vehicle;
- your age and driving experience;
- the Aftermarket Accessories or modifications on the Vehicle;
- the place where the Vehicle is usually parked and garaged; and
- the claims experience in respect of all Vehicles and for drivers insured under the Policy.
Premiums will be reviewed on the renewal date of the Policy each year and may be varied depending on the claims experience or other factors which we may take into account

- Q: My child is a learner driver and I want to teach them to drive in the car insured with Ford Insure. Do I need to inform you?
No, you do not need to inform us. Learner drivers are automatically covered provided the instructor is legally able to instruct a learner driver and meets the policy criteria as set out in your schedule and PDS.
If at the time of a loss or damage a licensed learner driver is in control of your vehicle, the excesses that will apply are those that would have applied to the licensed passenger who is instructing the learner.
- Q: Are car keys and re-coding covered?
Yes. If your keys are lost, destroyed, stolen or damaged, or if there are reasonable grounds to believe the keys may have been duplicated, the insurer will pay the costs of replacing and/or recoding the locks and/or keys up to $5,000 per event, per vehicle during period of insurance. Yes. The insurer will pay the reasonable cost for loss of damage to a child's seat or baby capsule that is stolen from your vehicle or damaged in an accident or fire while contained within your vehicle. See Ford Insure PDS for full details.

If the "Tools of Trade" option or "Tradie Package" applies, and a claim is accepted for accidental loss or damage to the vehicle, the insurer will also cover the accidental loss or damage to tools of trade, trade stock and materials up to $5,000 for any one incident. - Q: Is a hire car included?
The Insurer automatically includes coverage for not-at-fault accidents or theft, subject to the PDS. This benefit can be upgraded to include coverage for at-fault accidents. Provided you have included this optional benefit, if your vehicle is involved in a covered Accident regardless of fault, under a Ford Insure policy the insurer will reimburse the cost of hiring a similar vehicle providing you obtain the insurers approval. - Q: What does Choice of Repairer mean?
TChoice of Repairer gives you the opportunity to decide where your vehicle is taken for repair. This may be to a repairer you know and trust, or it may be to a repairer that is located conveniently to your home or workplace. If you don't know a repairer, we can recommend one of our selected repairers based on a location that is most convenient to you.
You may choose any licensed repairer to repair your Vehicle. However we may invite, accept, adjust or decline estimates or arrange to move your Vehicle to another repairer acceptable to both you and us.
- Q: Do genuine Ford parts make a difference?
Genuine Ford parts have been made or selected by Ford and rigorously tested as an integral component of the vehicle to meet high quality, safety and performance standards. This ensures that your Ford will drive, function and protect you the way it was intended.
They also provide a precise fit because they are manufactured to the same specifications as those of new vehicles. This ensures that body lines, contours and gaps are the same as when your vehicle was originally manufactured.
- Q: What does New for Old Replacement mean?
Where your Vehicle is a Total Loss, and we have agreed to pay your claim we will replace your Vehicle with a new vehicle of the same make model or series so long as it is available in Australia, and your Vehicle is less than 36 months old from when it was first registered1.

- Q: What does New Genuine Parts mean?
New Genuine Parts mean authentic new parts obtained through the authorised Ford Australia supply chain, so you can be assured that the parts fitted were designed and tested to Ford’s rigorous standards and will therefore perform as intended under collision conditions. Ford Insure uses New Genuine Parts for the life of your policy, regardless of the age of your vehicle, providing parts are still available for that model year.
If we accept a claim but are unable to fix a damaged part, where available in Australia at time of repair, we will use a new genuine manufacturer part. If new genuine is not available we will use genuine reconditioned or recycled manufacturer parts or Australian Design Rules certified new, recycled or reconditioned parts.
- Q: What does Flexible Payment options mean?
The policy is issued for 12 months with flexible payment options that mean you can choose to pay ether the full annual amount or pay 12 monthly instalments and no additional cost
Premiums payable by instalments may be subject to minor adjustments (upwards or downwards) due to rounding, and financial institution transaction fees may apply.

- If your new vehicle is within 3 years of the first registration and is involved in a claim that is assessed a Total Loss, it may be replaced with a new vehicle of the same make and model, where a replacement vehicle is available. If the same make and model is not available, the Insurer may replace your vehicle with the nearest equivalent or suitable replacement. Refer to the Ford Insure PDS for full details.
- Some insurance companies may use repairers that could use non genuine parts to repair your vehicle. If your claim is accepted the insurer will use Genuine Parts when available. - The Insurer may authorise repairs at your repairer of choice; pay you the reasonable costs of repairing your vehicle; or move your vehicle to another repairer that is agreed upon. Refer to the Ford Insure PDS for full details.

- With the Tools of Trade option, the insurer provides coverage up to $5,000 for tools, trade stock or materials stolen via forcible and violent entry to your securely locked vehicle or damage to trade tools, stock, and materials from a locked vehicle or fixed toolbox, or due to a vehicle collision. - The insurer covers theft or accidental loss/damage to your owned trailer/caravan when attached to your vehicle, or detached within your home's land boundaries but not incommon areas of multi-unit homes. Contents in or on the trailer/caravan are not covered. The maximum the insurer will pay for one incident is the market value of the caravan/trailer up to $5,000.
